Are You, Guilty by Suspicion? (Movie Review) nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;The movie Guilty by Suspicion was not your average â€Å"action-packed† Matrix. In this movie, David Merrill (played by Robert DeNiro,) is a successful director. Everything seems to be fine, until his past starts catching up with him. Now he’s wanted for possibly being a Communist. As boring as this would sound to the average teenager, I actually liked it. Take for example the scene where he first sees his son. He gave him a brand new toy car and you could clearly see he loved his little boy. I liked this scene because it showed Mr. Merrill was a considerate and caring person†¦not a cold, raging beast. In another part of the movie when his friend Red had a sort of†¦show more content†¦This again showed how he cared for the ones whom he held close, even if they weren’t there for him during his hard times. Another powerful scene that I liked was at the end of the movie during his hearing. Mr. Merrill came off as a strong man w ho would not back down on his word. He showed that doing things such as holding a meeting about how to end the atomic bomb, does not make one a Communist. He never ratted out any of his friends (despite the fact that at times they wanted to drag his name through the mud). Many peoples’ lives were ruined because they were being blamed for things in which they were not guilty of. This lesson can also be seen in the book The Crucible. The search for Communists was much like that in the Salem Massachusetts during the time of the Salem Witch Trials. In this book, much like in Guilty by Suspicion, people were thrown in jail and lives were ruined when they really were NOT guilty. Also, during this time period, you could be accused of being a witch without hardcore evidence, just like in the movie. Another reason they are similar is the fact that â€Å"names† played a major role. The court wanted names of people who attended certain meetings or suspects that could be communist s. The same goes for The Crucible. The Start of Evil Macbeth is a play written by William Shakespeare in the 1600 century. It is one of Shakespeare’s most well known tragedies, and continues to be studied to this day. It is a dark and gloomy play, as the main character, Macbeth, gets a taste for evil and kills the king of Scotland, King Duncan, in order to become king himself. After this moment there is a rapid increase of evil in him, as he starts to kill more and more people who upset him or are a threat to the throne. One of the play’s most important scenes is when Macbeth murders King Duncan, this scene is essential to the remainder of the play and how it unfolds. We have all heard the story about Superman, Indiana Jones, and other stories of an archetypal hero. What makes these stories alike? Joseph Campbell defines an archetypal hero in his book The Hero With A Thousand Paces. The archetypal hero starts out having a normal life. Suddenly his/her normal lifestyle is disrupted by a tragedy in which he/she must set off on an adventure to achieve a goal for survival The error ends up living happily ever after accomplishing his/her goal and takes home a prize which the hero deeply values. An archetypal hero is seen in George Lucas epic film Star Wars as Luke Jaywalker. Luke Jaywalker is the son off Jed Knight by the name of Manikin Jaywalker (also known as Dart Voodoo) Who abandons his morality and turns to The Dark Side. Luke is given to the care of his uncle and lives a normal life until his guardians are murdered by Dart Evader. He runs into a friend Of his fathers now as Ben Cannon who knew Manikin Jaywalker when he was a good Jed Knight and is also a Eked Knight. Ben and Luke set off on a journey to save the universe from Dart Voodoo and destroy his home planet the Death Star named so because of its power to completely obliterate entire planets. Ben and Luke hire a pilot to fly them to the distant Death Sta r where they plan to rescue a princess. Luke is almost killed but he escapes the danger, however Ben is killed by Dart Voodoo in the process. Luke and his pilot rescue the princess and take her to her home planet where she organizes a fleet of star ships to destroy the Death Star. The fleet of star ships arrives at the Death Star and about % if the fleet is personally destroyed by Dart Evader himself. Only Luke Jaywalker is left when he shots tat weak whole in the Death Star and completely obliterates it. After temporarily defeating his enemy he sets off to return the princess to her home planet and receive a reward for his bravery. He becomes a prince by marrying the princes and lives happily ever after. You can clearly see that Luke Smaller easily completes his role as an archetypal hero for three reasons.
